The Experience

We are a warm and friendly Scottish family living a low-impact life. We practice permaculture and no-dig gardening on 3 acres of Scottish paradise. We are looking for help with the permaculture garden, the hobbit-style guest house, and creative projects which include adding more magic and inspiration to the fairy glen.

Hideaway is truly a paradise, the place is beautiful and very comfortable, you will have an equipped, beautiful, organized and cozy cabin just for you. Kim is a happy and creative person, we had great times together, and I learned a lot from her. I'm grateful to have known this family and this place. It's a great place to get in touch with nature, chicken and ducks, gardens full of delicious vegetables.

Our experience with Kim was very good! We had the opportunity to take care of ducks and chickens, learned a lot about permaculture and gardening and worked cleaning. In addition to the weekly work hours, we prepare dinner 3 days a week and share the kitchen cleaning duties. Moray Speyside is a wonderful mountainous region where you can go on many incredible walks. We had access to the bike and were able to ride around. Additionally, Kim took us by car to national parks. We stayed in a comfortable pod, we were able to light the fireplace on cold days and we felt really good there.

Thank you Kim for everything. I have learned a lot from you. I really recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something new, learn more about planting and connect with nature. It was my first experience in Worldpackers and it couldn't be better. Thank you Kim for this experience and I wish you all the best! Mohammed

There is no words to describe what an amazing experience I had, first of all thanks Kim to your kindness and welcoming. In this volunteering you would be able to learn while you work, always surrounding of good energy. The tasks vary, depending on what Kim needs, but they are always oriented towards sustainability. We did some gardening, compost, building the bases of the Temazcal and when there is change over we clean the Hide Away. The accomodation were above our expectations, you would have your own space with private facilities.

A really magical and unique piece of Scotland :) We had such a wonderful month here. We learnt a lot about permaculture, eco building and also compost! The place is Gorgeous! We have been working a lot and then is so satisfying to see what you have done with your own hands, taking care of environment and using all the resources that our earth give to us ! You really feel a lot of gratitude 🙏🏼! Thank you very much Kim&Mark for this wonderful experience! Hope we see you in a future !
