The experience

We are a couple from the GB who have relocated to Carcassonne, France, where we plan to run a small Chambre d'hote and have a separate house where we live with our little daughter, 6-year-old Eve, who you will meet and no doubt be dragged to the local park to play with.

We need help with the chambre d'hote and childcare, so we organise needs week by week. We are happy to help people improve their English and perhaps improve our French :-)

What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate French

Over 20 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa

Program Details

We follow the guidelines of 5 hours per day over 5 days. We are happy to show people how to do various tasks and we like to work together to get to know each other better. We will provide food and accommodation in the large, private en-suite room.

Activities & Shift

The daily tasks change a bit as needed but range from simple room cleaning and changeovers, possibly some painting as we have a small house we are renovating (we provide all materials, protective clothing etc), also to going to the park etc with Eve. The main hours are mid-morning to mid-afternoon.

Rules

We have simple rules around guests and which parts of the house can be used, but try to be flexible.
