The Experience

I'm slowly transforming an acre of former farm land into an edible forest. The fields are around my comfortable and clean house. There is always something to do: plant, deweed, trim, harvest, come up with ideas, clean out the creeks, enjoy the view, help with household chores, relax. I am looking for proactive and independent, quiet people who like a hands-on experience in a beautiful setting and wish to spend time outdoors and mostly offline.

Lisa made this experience unforgettable and she sets the bar high for other hosts. The accommodations were nice and comfortable. She taught me how to use every tool and gave clear instructions on what needs to get done and then gave us the freedom to work on what we wanted to. She has so many stories that I looked forward to hearing everyday. It's so nice to eat the food we harvested.

For our first worldpackers trip we couldn't have asked for a better experience or host! We had an amazing time on the farm spending time being active outdoors connecting with the beautiful land. Lisa is so knowledgeable and we learned so much from her; not only about permaculture but also about culture, healthy living, and life in general. She shared her experiences and stories along with her knowledge about the island and other parts of the world she is connected to during mealtime where we enjoyed her colorful and tasty cooking. Lisa is an amazing host. We are excited to see her farm grow!

This was such an amazing experience ! I learnt so much about the local plants, fruits, vegetables, sustainable living, farming, the Puerto Rican culture … I loved it! The work was really physical and intense at times, but also so rewarding to push your limits and see the work you achieved. The heat can make it difficult too, so don't expect to come here as a holiday. It's a nice place to seek peace and tranquility. Lisa's food was absolutely amazing, super healthy and delicious, really grateful for it! I got along super well with the team and had the best time 🫶🌴🍌

Lisa was kind enough to pick me up. I would recommend bringing your own internet hotspot or using your phone's data, and bring a friend. Unfortunately, I had to leave early after I got an emergency call from a friend asking for help in a rather uncomfortable situation.. Lisa was understanding of the emergency call. If you're LGBTQIA+ always ask hosts for their inclusion politics first! Take care <3

This "off the beaten track" farm was probably not what you had in mind when you signed up for a six week stay. I have high speed internet (optic fibre), and normally there are up to four volunteers for those who are looking for company. I'm not sure why you mention LGBTQIA+, as this is a non-discriminatory and gender equal home and I've hosted people of all walks of life, never mind their sexual, political, cultural or religious orientation. I was a bit puzzled that you left the same day you arrived, but I've learned to appreciate even unexpected changes.
