The Experience

We run a log house business, so the main tasks are housekeeping (clean the rooms and shared areas [onsen, toilets, main building]), gardening (wood chopping, grass cutting, road sweeping) and other occasional tasks (painting, Karcher...). Help: 9~10 am (after check-out) to ~2 pm, 2 days off. Accommodation is a shared cottage for 4 people.

The hotel was amazing. As the name suggests, it is in a secluded area in Japan with beautiful the hotel all around. I spent most my time on the property and in the hotel nearby but there are some towns a short bike ride away as well. I wish I had explored the surrounding area on bike a bit more but I had an amazing stay and the manager Manon is very nice and respectful.

This place is a hidden gem in the middle of the hotel next to a beautiful river and mountains. It's a very nice cozy and quite the hotel where you are able to use all the amenities such as sauna, onsen, gym and bikes. We were provided with a lot of food weekly and the tasks were easy going. This is a perfect spot for meditation or any other outdoors activity like hiking to get lost in the hotel. The staff were incredible people, I immediately felt at home. Definitely I'm going to miss the birds singing every morning. Thank you for everything! I highly recommend it.

Genryu no Sato was a very relaxing experience for those looking to just, 'exist.' Truthfully, on the surface there 'isnt much to do.' However i believe thats exactly its charm I spent 4 hours each day doing forgiving tasks that made me contemplate about what was going on outside of work, all while enjoying the tranquility of trees and the sound of constant river flow right in the middle of it all Manon herself is a very sarcastic and kind woman who fairly distributes work and constantly makes jokes that lighten the mood Overall very recommended, even though it might not be for everyone
