The experience

Experience the authentic community of Las Juntas de Abangares while making a positive impact on the environment. Located just 1 hour away from Liberia Airport and Monteverde, as well as 45 minutes from Playa Blanca in Puntarenas, our project offers a unique blend of gardening and language immersion. Join us for an enriching experience where you can cultivate connections with nature and learn new languages.


What you offer

6 hours of help per day

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: Volunteers contribute $10 per day to cover expenses for maintenance, internet access and materials for volunteer activities.

Program Details

Volunteers will be actively involved in daily tasks related to gardening, including planting, weeding, and harvesting. Additionally, they will have the chance to engage in language exchange sessions with Costa Ricans to improve their language skills and immerse themselves in the culture. Volunteers are expected to commit to a set schedule and contribute positively to the community during their stay. Accommodation and groceries are provided in exchange for volunteer work.


Activities & Shift

Here is the updated list with the added task:

A typical day may include:

- Participating in gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, and harvesting in the permaculture garden.

- Engaging in language exchange sessions with Costa Rican community members to practice Spanish and immerse in local culture.

- Assisting with pruning to maintain the health and appearance of trees and shrubs.

- Contributing to the cleanliness of the small pool area by regular cleaning and maintenance.

- Taking care of the fish in the on-site pond by feeding them and monitoring their well-being.

- Cleaning volunteer spaces to ensure a comfortable and tidy environment.


Rules

Volunteers will camp in covered areas close to the main house, providing shelter and protection from the elements. We provide individual or couples' tents and mattresses. Additionally, volunteers should come prepared with any necessary toiletries and medical supplies. Please note that we only provide transportation for volunteers arriving at Guanacaste Airport (LIR). If you arrive at the Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO), we won't be able to pick you up from there. However, we can coordinate a meeting point close to our property for your convenience.
