The experience

Kiya is an Anglo-Peruvian NGO supporting children with special needs & disabilities living in poverty & vulnerable situations.
We run an Outreach Therapy Programme in the n the North of Peru in small fishing village, Mancora, renowned for its beautiful beaches, wildlife & surfing.
As a volunteer you will accompany the onsite therapists on home visits to the patients we support, and document the work they do to boost social media audiences.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Content Writer: Write, edit and publish inspiring content.

Video Making: Create, edit and publish digital videos.

Social Media: Maintain and update social media channels.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 25 Per day

Fee pays for: Materials for volunteer activities and Donation to project

Description: We ask volunteers to pay a contribution of between $10 & $15 a day towards their accommodation and breakfast directly to the host along with a $10 donation a day towards the project to cover materials and support the work we do. The charity donation would be paid in advance directly to the registered charity account.

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Intermediate English or Intermediate Spanish

Over 18 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

This is an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in Peruvian culture working directly with a team of professionals supporting children in need.
Your role will be to document the childrens lives, therapy and community work the charity carries out in Mancora and surrounding villages with the aim of creating emotive content for social media and marketing campaigns.
Part of your role will be to increase our audience on instagram, facebook and LikedIn and create a more attractive and interactive image for the charity.
You will need some background in social media/marketing/photography.
There is opportunity to learn Spanish and take surfing lessons near to your placement, we will be happy to help you book this in to make the most of your stay!


Activities & Shift

You will work a 5 hour shift from 9am to 2pm or 2pm to 7pm accompanying the Peruvian team on their home visits; assisting community workshops etc.


Rules

-All photos, videos and documents associated with our NGO taken throughout your programme, are for use ONLY for marketing and social media as authorised by the charity and may not be shared in any capacity.
-No drugs, alcohol or smoking are permitted at the accommodation or work.
-No un authorised guests are allowed at the accommodation or parties.
-The donation for your programme must be paid directly to the charity to secure your place and is non refundable.
-If you damage or break, lose or misplace anything belonging to the accommodation or the charity ie: keys, materials, phone etc you will be asked to replace it.
-You must have a valid DBS check or equivalent to participate in this programme.
-We must receive all completed forms and a copy of your ID and insurance prior to arrival.
-We must receive 2 references before arrival.
