The Experience

This plantation is a 19th-century Dutch Colonial heritage with lots of history and locally-harvested coffee. It is managed by one of the most influential and respected families in Blitar and has been handed down from generation to generation. In 2015, the property was opened to the public, offering tours through the coffee fields, museums, and a warehouse -converted cafe that has the charm and relaxed vibes of a Dutch-Indies past life.

Great volunteering experience in the heart of Java. the host made us feel part of the family from day 1 with their generosity and authenticity. Tasks are diversified and it is great to learn the process of transforming a coffee grain into a delicious drink. Meeting the smiley locals made us feel very special. Highly recommended

We had a great time, everybody was very welcoming and made us feel like family. The environment is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by nature. The tasks were easy, pleasant and varied throughout the 2 weeks (swiping, cleaning, serving coffee, sorting coffee beans, teaching, etc.). The staff were all very friendly, and we learned a lot about coffee making and local culture. The food offered was very good. It was a perfect first Worldpacker experience! Thank you Wima, Alfi, Andrei and all the host family for this memorable experience!

The farm is a very peaceful place, surrounded by lots of nature. If you're looking for that kind of atmosphere, I highly recommend it. The people who work there are very welcoming and friendly and it was incredible to work with them. The tasks are simple, involving manual labor to maintain the farm and common areas and also as a waiter at the cafe. If you're interested, you can learn a lot about coffee from the baristas. The food served to the volunteers was very good too. On the free days they give you the chance to explore the area and do activities, which is great. I'll miss this place!

Hey Senhor Luca!

Thanks for your help during Ramadan, even though it's quiet around here. Our chat video about Brazilian football, I think, will be one of the most interesting podcast videos I've ever made.

If Brazil wins the 2026 World Cup, let's make a deal for a video call, okay?

Cheers and coffee up!

(Remember... Brazilian coffee was originated from Java, lol)

I immediately felt like I was part of the family at the host! Wima, his family, and staff are so hospitable and incredibly nice people. I had a daily schedule to keep busy but still had free time to explore Blitar and the surrounding rice paddies and plantation. Absolutely wonderful experience for my first world packers stay.

Hey Elle!

Another Bostonian has graced our coffee plantation.

I've really enjoyed our time together these past two weeks. So many things were made easier because of you, especially with the help on the video promo with the podcast and subtitles.

I'm really sorry I couldn't say goodbye on the last day. Hopefully we can meet again in Boston... maybe you'll treat me to a Boston Celtics game, haha...

I will never forget my time here. I could write about many things, but the people here are the BEST. Every person on the plantation is welcoming&genuine. Each person that you meet is friendly&kind. You should expect the accommodation to be very simple, naturally with a few bugs involved. But if you're looking to make some great connections, experience the culture, share your own culture, &learn a bit about coffee then I highly recommend here. I miss it so much , but I'll definitely be back. Thank you all for making me feel like a part of the family. Terima kasih banyak! Sempai jumpa lagi!! 😁

Bri!

What a three enjoyable weeks with you. Learning English was fun, chatting, hanging out, singing, playing games, and of course, seeing how well you work here. Thank you for bringing joy to our place.

I will remember you as the record holder, the only volunteer who had no plans to go anywhere one hour before leaving this place. Congratulations! But please don't do it again haha...

Whenever you want to come back, remember that here is your Indonesian home.
