The Experience

In our everyday activity we need help with cleaning and preparing the rooms but it is as important as chatting with the guests and making them feel welcomed here. Everything in the place is in constant change - we are rebuilding and rearranging things all the time, so sometimes we need help with building, painting and preparing to open our roof terrace - this means growing plants and doing different craft projects!

A really really REALLY wonderful experience that I will always remember and be grateful for. From the openness of the staff and guests to the beauty of Estonia and its culture, I had the time of my life here and I recommend it for sure!

I actually extended my stay here. I met great people and had so much fun, everybody is friendly and open-minded. The hostel encourages the volunteers to create something and enjoy the local life, it makes feel like home!

Want to save the earth in a small way? Fancy working, chilling and mixing with hostel guests in whatever balance you like? Unsure what Estonia has to offer apart from choir practice? the hostel will satisfy you. I spent two months in the most low-key, cosy company, exploring Tartu and a simpler way to live. Helle and the receptionists are awesome - funny, smart and keen for a hike if you make their beds well. Workers have a morning schedule when they wake up, so you're never in the dark about what to do or how to do it. And it's pretty easy. So, come for the bohemia, stay for the people.

I had a wonderful time at the hostel! The work and hours were just as listed here. The expectations for the volunteers were clearly communicated and there was always someone I could ask if I had any questions. The staff and fellow volunteers were great, and I really enjoyed working and hanging out with them. The hostel is really cozy: it's full of plants, has a lovely terrace, and an overall great atmosphere. Its a great place if you want to meet cool people from all over the world, get to know Estonia and Tartu, and do it all while promoting sustainability and an eco-friendly lifestyle.
