The volunteering experience with MAMAs was beyond expectation. All the managers, workers, live-ins and other volunteers were incredible people that I really bonded to and became good friends. Eco and Coco are really nice, beautiful and cozy hostels and it was a very good enviroment to work. The work load was fair, sometimes hard work, sometimes chill. The working hours were always respected. You need to commute from your home (ClinkNoord) to the workplace, but it can be easily done with a bike that can be provided if you choose to. I highly recommend it for everyone!

It was a beautiful experience shared with my fellow volunteers and the attention of the EcoMamma team. Agata, your manager is an excellent person and helped me in everything.

The high demands of the position are those that should be asked of someone hired and not for a volunteer. The training was not done by the managers: it was delegated to a colleague who was overloaded with this extra. A lot is demanded for what is given to change. In my case, at least, the accommodation was a dark, tiny room for 4, with almost no storage space and a window that didn't open. In my first week I worked 4 days in a row and had only 2 days off, with the illogical pretext that I started on a Wednesday instead of a Monday. Several volunteers, like me, decided not to continue here.

My experience at Clink was not as pleasant. The hosts could interact more with the volunteers, welcoming them on our arrival, orienting and guiding them better. The workload could be less heavy for a volunteer, on my first day they made me do 37 beds. The volunteer room could be in better condition as it was dirty from previous volunteers and has no window that can be opened.

Some improvements could be done, but all in all I enjoyed my experience. The housekeeping is easy to learn but hard work, your hands may bleed and body ache at some point 😅 The accommodation at clink is not the best, the room is dirty and staff don't have enough information about volunteers, nobody knew anything when I first arrived, which room to put me in etc. I also had to wait a few days for a manager to give me the bike and there was trouble getting my deposit back when leaving, again because the staff didn't know about it. I did meet some wonderful people and enjoyed amsterdam tho! 😊
