Program Details

You as our guest/volunteer will help us with garden work of different kind; this will include digging and weeding, greenhouse cleaning/watering, working with trees and large shrubs, clearing overgrown garden areas, lawnmowing, some handyman tasks, chopping/sawing of firewood all as required.
It would be ideal to have someone with a fair bit of knowledge/love for nature and for landscaping, some handyman qualities would be great as well...and well, the strong interest to learn new culture and life in Scotland we would expect.
Some work like the preparation and storing of firewood might be better dealt by a male volunteer!

Activities & Shift

Activities are usually morning based ending with a fresh prepared lunch shared with us.
You need to be flexible as the work is often governed by the scottish weather; as like as we are flexible to adapt to your plans within the 25 hours per week.
There are tasks to suit all abilities. We never ask you to do anything we wouldn't do ourselves and most of the time we collaborate together.

Rules

It can be messy, so bring working clothes, good comfy boots and waterproofs if you can.
We prefer non smokers.
Basic food is provided; some meals especially a hot lunch might be prepared for you if you like but usually your accommodation is self-catering.
Privacy is important for us as we give you as well plenty private time to relax & to explore!
