Program Details

Community life at The Ashram is vivid. We share all meals together, make art and music together, do spiritual practices together, community activities, etc.. You will be part of a loving community of people who deeply care about making a change in themselves and in the world. Here are the main projects we’ll be working on:

Agriculture and Food: We have a large organic garden and are developing an agro-forestry system. In the garden you will have the opportunity to do weeding, planting, harvesting, mulching, etc.

Building: We will be working on different conventional and natural building projects.

Activities & Shift

We operate on a 4-day work week. We work for 3 days, then take one day off, then repeat the cycle. On a work day we work for 6 hours. We take two breaks during the work period for communal breakfast and lunch. Everybody on our land is a part of this cycle. On our days off, a bunch of us usually go into nearby towns or swimming spots to have fun and radiate Love! Living accommodations will either be cabins, a large yurt-like shared tent, or individual tents.

Rules

At the heart of our community is a commitment made by each individual to cultivate more love in themselves and be of service to others. We are looking for volunteers who are serious about finding personal and spiritual growth at our ashram. As a new member of HYA, we will guide you through a 10-day program to learn our ashram’s system of spirituality. We will also offer a 1-on-1 mentorship relationship with a more advanced student. Our system of spirituality is primarily built around Eastern modalities; specifically the four main yogas of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Jnana Yoga. We expect new members of HYA to attend daily group spiritual practices through the 10-day program, and eventually maintain a personal daily practice afterwards. We are a substance-free community, so no substances are allowed at HYA. We are pet friendly and family-friendly so kids are welcome!
