Cat Ba Countryside Homestay

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to my homestay volunteer recruitment page. Our homestay was started in early 2019 with 8 bungalows and, in 2022, we build 8 more rooms. We are located in a small, quiet and typical village of the island where the people are really friendly, closely, smiley... It's in the middle of Cat Ba Island, 8 km away from the centre of Cat Ba Town and the beaches and 5 km only from Cat Ba National Park so you can visit both of place with scooters, bicycles, local bus or taxi. Our home is located in the back of the main street and close to the forest, so in my home you will be able to enjoy fresh air and a peaceful surrounding... We also garden at my home so there are many trees, flowers, vegetables and we have animal like dogs, cats, chicken... In the sunny day, we have a freshwater swimming pool all ready for you... We also have a restaurant at home where we are using it to cook for our family and the people who staying with us by Vietnamese style.
If you are looking for a place to volunteer in Cat Ba, please don't hesitate to contact us.

My name is Lan and my wife is Hue. I am not a Cat Ba Island local, but I know many things of the Island. In 2009, after I graduated University in Environmental Science, I came to the island to work for an NGO in conservation at the Cat Ba National Park to protect the island nature. After I got married with my wife, we built a happy family with 2 boys. At the same time, we rented a Hotel in Cat Ba town for my wife to work there but it was too hard for her to take care our children and to do a good job at the hotel. At the end of 2018, I decided to quit my job at the National Park and to help my wife. Thats when we started the business of this homestay. Since the very beginning, I fell in love with this beautiful island. After more than 14 years staying here, I still love every single thing in here and want to share it with everyone!

We enjoyed our time in Cat Ba and working with Lan and Hue and the entire team, it took a few days to acclimatise but once comfortable it was manageable and enjoyable overall. For couples like us you may want to consider the shift mix as this means you will not be able to travel around the island together unless on days off or in the late hours. Though this was an enjoyable place to spend a few days and unwind.

I really enjoyed my two weeks in Cat Ba Countryside! Lan, Hue and all the staff were very good to me :) I was very well fed with great meals, the location is beatiful surrounded by nature. Lan was super clear about the work role so there was no confusion about what I should be doing. The work is very managble, some waitressing experience would be helpful as it can get busy at some times but not necessary as its still a small restaurant. Very peaceful beatiful place to spend some time with a very cuddly cat to pet.

Thanks for having me, wish you all, all the best!!

I had a good experience here :)
I recommend this experience to explore the beautiful Cat Ba island with time and to relax :)

The hard-worker team was friendly and always provided delicious meals!
The shifts are flexibles and the work sometimes is busy, but in general is not difficult (the task are clear and the information is organized)

Thanks for receive me and I wish the best for you, project and family!!!
