Program Details

Hi, we are Manuela & Guillermo (Austrian & Costa Rican-German). Jungle Hub is our dream of living sustainably in nature come true! We are guardians of this 4 Hectares of paradise, that we have been regenerating since 2013. We moved here permanently in 2020, started hosting volunteers in 2021 and retreats in 2023.

For us Permaculture goes way beyond agriculture, including all aspects of life – from the way we build houses to the way we eat and prepare food. We are creating a permanent culture and want to share this way of living with others, hoping to inspire them.

We are completely off-grid, using solar power and natural spring water, growing as much of our own food as possible. We bake sourdough bread, make kombucha and serve healthy and delicious meals. We love music and singing around the bonfire. We are passionate about Yoga and meditation and love talking about spirituality.

Activities & Shift

We will pick you up in San Ramón on Friday afternoon and take you to the farm that is completely immersed in nature (no shops, restaurants,etc.). On Saturday we will show you the farm and you can arrive and think about how you want to help. Sunday we go to the waterfall. Monday - Thursday we get up early, have a nice breakfast and then work in one of the following fields: gardens & greenhouse, construction & maintenance, Social Media & website, cooking & baking, hospitality.

Your job is to do the dishes, keep the kitchen clean, help with cooking - and the rest you can choose freely. There are many little and big tasks you can do. We can either help you find something to do or you make up your own project, but in general you should be able to work independently. We prefer it if you do what you're passionate about rather than telling you what to do.

Art projects welcome :)

Rules

Arrival and departure only on Fridays - we will pick you up and drop you off in San Ramón (there is a bus from San José, Puntarenas, Liberia or La Fortuna).

You will either stay at the Rancho, a basic structure without walls that is completely immersed in nature. It is a bit like camping, but with a comfortable bed (with mosquito net) and amazing views. The bathroom is outside and the shower is not heated. We lived there for 7 months ourselves and absolutely loved it.

Or you will stay at our Cabin, sharing the room with one other person of the same gender.
