Program Details

You will be treated like one of the family. This is a help-out where you can position, but we tend to foster your existing interests while teaching you some new skills at the same time.
Please do not apply if you cannot ride a horse, as I am not in a position to teach you how.
What I can do is teach you about the equine discipline of endurance riding. Many of our volunteers have happily ended their time with us riding in a 40km endurance event. For most their stay at Flemingo was the highlight of their time in Australia.

Activities & Shift

We begin each day with bacon, avocado and eggs.
We not looking for a person to work a full-time paid position. More someone who wants to experience our way of life and is prepared to fill in when I don’t have enough arms or time.
This position would suit a backpacker/volunteer who was interested in cultural exchange:- to experience life revolving around horses.
We need help on the farm with the horses, in the garden and the home. Nothing very strenuous ... just lending a hand .... opening gates so the tractor can pass through, helping to move horses, fixing fences, weed spraying, cleaning water troughs, feeding horses and the cat, assisting with preparing the evening meal, setting the table, maybe do a load of washing and help to keep the house clean.
Most afternoons are spent with the horses:- going out for a ride as the sun sets viewing many Australian animals in the bushland.
