The experience

Volunteers will be working at our school, Shepherd's House Junior School a project of Shepherd's House Childcare Ministries. We educate orphaned and needy children. If you volunteer with us, your heart will remain with us.


What you offer

6 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 15 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers

Description: $15 is charged to cater for 3 meals a day and utilities like water, power, etc.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.


Requirements

Intermediate English or Fluent English

Between 30 and 70 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

We pick you from the airport to our host home at $50. Provide you with a room, a bed, and a mattress. Then take you to the working place in Mpigi which about 34km . We have changed this due to covid 19 aftermaths that have really affected the economy. At some point you will be requested to contribute to gas.


Activities & Shift

Teaching english, teaching sports, working with local teachers ,helping children with home work and mentorship with Teen Girls and Boys.


Rules

A volunteer is not supposed to travel alone, not supposed to come home drunk or smoke in front of children. Ask the host to help with what you don't understand. A volunteer is not supposed to get an attachment with a child
