The Experience
Somos uma comunidade de base ecológica e um espaço eco cultural em um sítio em Vargem Grande Paulista, a 40km da capital, onde buscamos viver de forma sustentável. Procuramos alguém para nos ajudar com o beneficiamento dos alimentos e com as refeições diárias dos moradores do sítio e alimentação durante os eventos. São em média 15 pessoas diariamente. Você terá o auxílio dos próprios moradores e de outros voluntários.

I volunteered at the project for one-month as a traveler from the United States, and I only learned a few Portuguese words before coming to Brasil—so basically, I came to the project not knowing any Português. However, there were many people who worked and volunteered at the project who spoke some English and were able to help me with the communication barrier and allowed me the chance to make many friends at the project. This experience is good for anyone who wants to learn about sustainability and for any Português speakers or people wanting to learn Português.

There's a really welcoming atmosphere at Sitcom, and its a very nice place to spend a while! I was treated very well by Bel, Leo and Caue. I don't speak Portuguese, which made it a bit more difficult at times, but Isabel speaks English, and I could speak Spanish to Caue who speaks 'Porteñol'!. The food's very tasty and the yoga classes are really great. Thank you very much for having me!

Gostaríamos de agradecer a toda a comunidade o projeto por abrir suas casas e corações para nós como um ato de coragem, generosidade e amor. Lugares como o projeto neste mundo dão luz a projetos que buscam proteger nossa natureza e viver com consciência e presença. Obrigado a todos Bel, Julio, Caio, Dani, Gabi, Bia, Ango, Raffa e Leo. Depois de um generoso café da manhã, trabalhávamos na agrofloresta colhendo jabuticabas ou bananas, na horta plantando o que quer que fosse ou na cozinha fazendo pão ou algum dos festivais gastronômicos que criávamos juntos.

Fui para o projeto para fazer o PDC, um curso de Design de Permacultura. A comida era maravilhosa (toda vegana!!!) e todos os dias tive aulas sobre bioconstrucao, agrofloresta, manejo de água sustentável e muito mais. O Júlio e a Bel foram os hosts que me acolheram, uns amores que me fizeram sentir em casa. Toda a galera foi bem empática, divertida e com uma capacidade profunda de escuta. Sinto que aprendi mas também tive espaço para compartilhar, principalmente sobre questões de raça, gênero e classe. Para quem está afim de aprender sobre permacultura, suuuuper recomendo o projeto!!! 🌳💚🌎
