Boreland Lodge Hotel

We're a small hotel just North of Edinburgh. You can get to Edinburgh just 30mins on the train. Volunteers get their own private room with an ensuite or share with another Volunteer we're all like family. We're experienced hosts and are always welcoming volunteers with open arms!

We have 4 staff members here: John and Josie ,Greg and shelbie who are all Scottish. We only speak English (with a very Scottish accent )and try to encourage only English to be spoken whilst on duty. Volunteers are treated with patience and respect. Here you'll be able to improve your English, have lots of free study time, and gain good experience to put on your CV. During your time off you can enjoy the area, discover Edinburgh and travel around Scotland. We are happt to help and support you.

That was my first volunteering experience and it couldn't have been better! I was very well received by everyone, the room is excellent, gets plenty of sun, has space, overall it's a place where you'll have more privacy as you'll be sharing with just one person. The whole team is very kind and approachable, I felt like part of a family and I recommend this experience to everyone. Thank you for everything!

My experience in Boreland was truly amazing. It felt like a home away from home, and the people there made me feel like part of a big family. I’m incredibly grateful to Josie, Gillian, and Sav for their constant support and concern for our well-being. I had a great time and was able to develop genuine friendships with the other volunteers and the guests as well. It was my best experience so far, and I’ll always carry the memories of this place and the people in my heart!

I came for two months and ended up staying for four. My time in Boreland was definitely a completely different experience and I am grateful for the chance of meeting such awesome people. Even to the last day.
Josie was like a mother to us taking care of all we needed at all times, and Sav was always responsive to whatever we reached out for and willing to help.
The team of volunteers and the Ukrainian guests I will never forget, and again I’m grateful you gave me the chance to meet you.
